New Developments in Missing Marine Investigation

ONSLOW COUNTY -- A news conference regarding Maria Lauterbach will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. WECT will be at the conference and will bring you the latest.

Investigators are learning more about why Lance Corporal Maria Lauterbach may be missing.

Sheriff Ed Brown says Lauterbach was a victim of crime and was set to testify about an incident that happened on base.

On Tuesday, WECT discovered that there were persons of interest in the area and outside Onslow County, one of those persons is the 20-year-old's roommate who is currently deployed to California.

Authorities intend on bring the roommate back to North Carolina for questioning.

The Sheriff believes there could be other people involved in the pregnant Marine's disappearance who are military, and these people may have tampered with her car and cell phone.

Lauterbach's Hyundai Sonata was found at a Jacksonville bus station Monday night, but the Sheriff says it wasn't there over the weekend. There was suspicious bank activity on Dec. 24.

Friends have created a Facebook group for the missing woman called Help Us Find Maria where people have posted comments, pictures and prayers.

This all began on December 19, when the Sheriff's Office was contacted by Mary Lauterbach, the mother of 20-year-old Maria Frances Lauterbach of Dayton, Ohio

Mary Lauterbach reported her daughter as a missing person.

Lauterbach is described as 5 feet, 4 inches tall and weighing 140 pounds. She has blond hair, blue eyes, a Marine Corps tattoo on the upper right arm and a birthmark in the middle of her back. She lived in a boarding house with several other people in Midway Park. Lauterback is at least eight months pregnant.

She said that her daughter is stationed at Camp Lejeune and that she was very suspicious that something bad may have happened to Maria.

The SBI and NCIS have been called in to assist and they are continuing to provide technical and investigative assistance.

The Sheriff Ed Brown says he is personally offering a $500 reward in order to track her down.

Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach of Montgomery, Ohio, joined the Marine Corps on June 6, 2006, and was trained as a Personnel Clerk.

She is currently assigned to the Group Consolidated Administration Center, Service Company, Combat Logistics Regiment 27, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force, which she joined Nov. 23, 2006.

Lauterbach has not deployed in support of the Global War on Terrorism. Her decorations include the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

CASE # 592 Maria Lauterbach (1.10.2008)(LOCATED)

This RV was not correct.

"training exercise bravo * something is wrong with the baby  *  OS2  * 3748  - only half truths, look for this"

"- 2 days * police are not telling truth to parents * Georgia stop 16  87 miles to lake, not what he thinks - DR-"

"oil"

It's possible that Maria will be found in 2 days, and she might be at this house covered by vegetation...maybe in Georgia.  I think the police suspect that she ran away and could be keeping this information from the parents for some reason.  Would also be looking for some sort of wheel, maybe a water wheel.   Other details may or may not make any sense...and this is the best I could do without being asleep.

I've seen Maria's request listed on your site on the 9th of this month.  Your drawing says the 10th but she was found 2 days later just like you said.

Will keep you posted on other details as we get them.  We have also investigated many of your closed cases and found they have been very accurate yet you don't give yourself credit.

Can we ask why?

reply

Hi, I'm sorry she was not found alive and I'm not concerned about being right, I just hoped she was safe.   I do not have the time to follow-up on closed cases, I leave this up to my readers...if no one contacts with follow up reports, I assume the RV is still incorrect.  Again, I'm not out to win a popularity contest...I know what I'm capable of doing...and I do it.

Any idea where this creep is?

reply

Not a clue, but I might have something for you in the morning.

The crime was committed in North Carolina, which has the death penalty.

His lawyer may have told him to run to Mexico, where he could be protected from extrication...would be on the lookout at all borders crossings here for a start.

He most likely assumes that everyone is looking for him...saved head might be a possibility, as well as new transportation.

Hopefully his buddies have already found him in the local area.

You maybe right about Texas!

Hi, I just hope he's caught...I just keep thinking to myself if police were to go out to this mans house earlier, this could have been prevented.

Marine Slaying Suspect May Be Texas-Bound

Charred Remains Found In Laurean's Backyard

POSTED: 8:38 am EST January 13, 2008

UPDATED: 2:55 pm EST January 13, 2008

Authorities said they think a key suspect in the death of a pregnant Marine may be on his way to Texas.

Authorities said Marine Cpl. Cesar Armando Laurean was spotted on a Greyhound bus in Shreveport, La. The Shreveport police chief said local police are working with the U.S. Marshal's Service and other agencies in their search.

Ed Brown, sheriff of Onslow County, North Carolina, where charred remains believed to be that of Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach and her unborn child were found Saturday, expressed hope Sunday morning that Laurean would soon be in custody.

"I would say it might sooner than maybe had been expected," he said.

Brown said the FBI, federal Marshals, the Naval Criminal Investigative Service and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are hunting for Laurean, who authorities said fled Jacksonville, N.C., early Friday morning after leaving his wife a note in which he admitted burying Lauterbach's body.

The remains uncovered from a fire pit in Laurean's backyard will be sent to the state medical examiner's office in Chapel Hill, N.C., for identification using dental records.

Following the discovery, authorities issued a warrant Saturday for Laurean's arrest.

Lauterbach, 20, disappeared in December, just days after meeting with military prosecutors to talk about her allegations that Laurean had raped her.

Laurean's note said Lauterbach had "come to his residence and cut her (own) throat," Brown said. He confirmed Saturday that authorities received the note from Laurean's wife, Christina, around 8 a.m. Friday, about four hours after they suspect he fled.

Laurean wrote in the note that he had nothing to do with Lauterbach's suicide, but that he had buried her body.

Authorities have dismissed the idea that Lauterbach killed herself, pointing to the blood stains and the obvious signs of a cleanup inside Laurean's one-story, brown brick ranch home.

The manhunt is on for a man who is suspected in the disappearance and murder of a pregnant marine, whom he was accused of raping. The pregnancy was the result of this rape, and this marine certainly didn't want the baby to be born, if the baby was born dna would certainly prove that he was the father, and would give credence to the rape. She disappeared at eight months pregnant, and was found in a firepit right at the marine's home. He has disappeared. This is a reward for his capture. Here is his picture Brian, where should the police look for him? Do you think he will turn himself in or does he need to be captured? Here is his picture, and be careful. This man is a marine and the woman he is accused of murdering was harrassed, her car keyed, etc all because she decided to file charges due to the rape. This was done by other marines on the base, not by the man who murdered her.

Thanks Brian, and please take precautions, especially if you live near to a marine base.

Will do...thanks :)

I do not have time to translate this today, nor do I have time to post last nights dreams except for this one...it maybe related and I thought it needed to be posted right away.

It might be possible that the killer maybe this mans wife, and he may have been in the kitchen when it happened, or even already gone.

Bryan I do not see why you're calling this one a miss!

Look at this photo just released to the media! Look where the kitchen is!

reply

Thanks, I see...but again, I'm not too concerned about being right...I just wanted to help...and in this case I could not...she's dead and so is her baby.

You need to stop judging yourself about the gift God gave you! You were not wrong about this person and if police did what you said back on the 12th he would have never made it to Mexico like you predicted!  Any idea where he is now?

Jen

reply

Hi Jen...the case was about Maria, and she and her baby (not unborn child) were murdered...I should have felt this right away when I opened the case, but I did not.  The feeling of death is very specific to me, it's always the same and in most cases I have ever done...the feeling has always been correct.   This is the main reason why I'm so determined to locate people that I know are alive.

Below is the location I think he will be at in 24 hours...I did this to give anyone actually reading this time to get there.

Brian

"Loreado"...I realize that it's spelled wrong, but that's how I have spelled it in the past, so I think its Laredo.

This is very strange, as I was born here...and from what I know about this case from the news he was supposedly sited in Guadalajara.  It maybe possible that he was never sited at all, but wants the people looking for him to think this.  Would be looking for a home that looks like the structure in the first RV and one above...it could be next to an oil well, or possibly an oil container.  It also might not be a good idea for the media not to report on any unconfirmed sightings as this is what he maybe a part of his plan.

SUGGESTION:  Adding this guy to the FBI's top 10 might be a good idea, I'm adding him to mine, even though I think he wife actually committed the murders.
