Thanks Alana, and will do.
The new man in charge of the hunt for missing Madeleine McCann has signalled his intention to solve the case by bringing in a crack team.
Paulo Rebelo - who recently took over the inquiry into Madeleine's disappearance in Portugal - has appointed four senior officers to boost the investigation.
He said each one of the officers is an expert in his field and has been seconded from other areas of the police in the country.
It comes after the senior officer on the Madeleine case, Goncalo Amaral, was reportedly sacked for accusing the McCanns of manipulating the media.
And the second-in-command, Chief Inspector Tavares Almeida, was revealed to have asked for an extended leave of absence.
The new members of the team include a chief inspector and an inspector brought in from the Lisbon headquarters of the Policia Judiciaria (PJ).
Both of them are specialists in homicide and will concentrate on the theory that Madeleine was murdered.
The third new team member will focus on examining data and pursuing new lines of inquiry.
And the fourth officer is an inspector from Portugal's serious crimes police section.
Madeleine, from Rothley, Leicestershire, disappeared in May from her family's apartment in Praia da Luz while her parents, both doctors, dined nearby with friends.
Sorry if you have already been inundated with this article copied from the Daily Star today.
Hi Lisa, no I did not.
This does bother me, and hopefully they will not find anything.
I still believe she is alive and very close...and I'm going to keep believing that until I know otherwise.
THE body of missing Madeleine McCann could lie by the church where her parents prayed for her safe return.
Investigators were last night planning to dig outside Our Lady of Light chapel in Praia da Luz.
They spent part of yesterday examining a grassy knoll on the hillside site that was the resort’s cemetery before a new one was opened nearby.
Portugal’s deputy police chief, Paulo Rebelo, now heading the inquiry, will make the final
decision on whether to order the excavation.
The tiny church is where four-year-old Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry, sought comfort in the days after she vanished from their nearby holiday apartment on May 3.
The Catholic couple met priest Jose Pacheco the next day. He handed them the keys to the chapel so they could visit round the clock.
According to relatives, heart surgeon Gerry, 39, wept and prayed there in the early hours as he and Kate, also 39, launched a worldwide campaign to trace Maddie.
The church became a focus of inquiry after Brit police sniffer dogs, trained to detect death and blood, were drafted in three months ago.
Portuguese newspapers have claimed they reacted in the McCanns’ apartment at the Ocean Club, then followed a trail to the old cemetery.
After the McCanns were named official suspects, Father Pacheco was said to have been criticised by his bishop for giving them the church keys.
The clergyman has agreed to let police search.
Results of further tests on crime scene samples are expected to be delivered next week by forensic experts in Birmingham. The McCanns might then be recalled from their home in Rothley, Leicestershire, for further questioning by police in Portugal.
They deny any involvement in their daughter’s disappearance and claim detectives are simply
desperate to close a case they have bungled.
Last night, Brit expat Robert Murat, the first person to be declared an official suspect over Maddie’s disappearance, pleaded with Portuguese police to finally clear his name.
Murat, 33 – who lives with his mother less than 100 metres from where she went missing – has been under police restrictions for five months including a ban on giving interviews.
But the property consultant defied the order to break his silence and reveal: “It’s five months, my savings have gone, It is very, very difficult.”
Here is an article copied from Sky News today. This horrendous nightmare doesn't seem like it will ever end!!! I don't even know this girl or her family but I can only imagine the pain they must all be going through, it does not seem real. If this were a movie, it would be so far fetched that it would be a flop. I will never ever go to Portugal. It was a place that I'd always wanted to visit but now learning of all the craziness, corruption etc. I would be terrified to go there, never mind take children on holiday!!! When you go, please take care, as you already know, there is so much danger there.

Hi...I will...Murat's works with the police and I believe the police told him to say this. I also believe there is a good reason why the PJ have stayed away from him and his mom's house for all these months.
If he really did have nothing to do with this case, and has nothing to hide...and his life was really being ruined by this event...why not move back to the UK? or at least leave the town.
I think there is something in that home that he does not want outsiders to know. I believe that his 'aguido' status is only there to protect him and his friends, and to keep outsiders away.
From what I know he is free to leave the home whenever he wishes...yet he stays right there.

Old news report...
Where next for Madeleine inquiry?
25 May 2007 18:09 BST By Alison Roberts BBC News, AlgarveMore than three weeks after the disappearance of Madeleine McCann from an apartment in the resort of Praia da Luz, the only man formally declared a suspect by Portuguese police is holed up at home, with no sign of evidence emerging to arrest or charge him or anyone else . Robert Murat faces no restrictions on his movements - something that could only be imposed by a judge - and has, through family and friends, protested his innocence.
But he has remained out of sight of journalists who are still staking out the short stretch of tarmac between his home and the block from where Madeleine disappeared on 3 Ma y.
Robert Murat's mother Jenny, describing her son's state of mind as "desperate", told the BBC he was "pacing up and down all the time".
Tuck Price, who has known him for a decade, said his friend "just wants to get his own life back on track and back to normal".
He dismissed the idea that Mr Murat's involvement in the early stages of the investigation, when he acted as an interpreter, might have had ulterior motives.
"Robert was sometimes overeager in his help, but that's all," he told the BBC. "That's just his nature and I think that in this world we should be grateful for people like Robert around, who do help."
Police have confirmed that the suspect helped out with translations early on in the investigation, but said he had access only to "minor elements".
On Friday, they went further, dismissing reports that he had acted as interpreter for the McCanns themselves - and thus been in a position to mistranslate - when the couple were interviewed by police.
Gerry McCann, asked this week by journalists whether the couple had met Mr Murat, declined to comment.
In Portugal, witnesses may not comment on ongoing criminal investigations.
Mr McCann did say, however, that he hoped the media and public would not rush to judgment on anyone.
"As a family we hope that all suspects are treated as we would be - innocent until charged and convicted," he said.
So far, it is clear, forensic tests have not shown any link between Madeleine's disappearance and Robert Murat.
Artur Rego, a local lawyer, expressed surprise that Robert Murat had been declared a suspect by police before they had sufficient evidence to arrest him.
In an interview with the BBC, he said: "I believe that if one single hair of Madeleine had been found in the house he would have been arrested by now."
No date has been given for the expected completion of tests on samples taken from the McCanns' apartment, the Murats' house, and other premises searched over the past two weeks, and police have made clear they may not announce them anyway. Police have, however, linked Mr Murat with witness sightings of a man seen near the McCanns' apartment on the night of Madeleine's disappearance.
I want to point this out...Murat called Sergey the same night Madeleine went missing...this would have to been very late for a professional call. It very possible that Sergey might be involved in setting up websites that deal in the selling of under age pornography.
Watch this interview with Sergey, he claims he barely known's Robert, and just on a professional basis.
What profession is he referring to? and could be be related to the recent internet child pornography raids in the area?
Murat did not call him to ask about setting up a find Madeleine site, so what else could it have been about?
Then days later, this story reports that three computers found in Murats home contained links to pedophile website and encrypted emails and messages...yet Murat was not charged?
Original article continues...
They are also interested in phone contact that same night between the suspect and Sergey Malinka , a 22-year-old Russian man questioned by police a few days after Mr Murat who has told journalists that their relationship was purely professional. The timing and content of any call or calls between the two men is not clear.
Portuguese police said the line of investigation that led to their declaring their one suspect remains their main one, although they say "two or three" others are still open. Among leads still being investigated is a sighting in northern Morocco of a blonde girl, accompanied by a man, at a petrol station on the highway near Marrakesh, reported to the British authorities by a Norwegian woman who only knew of Madeleine on leaving Morocco, several days after the little girl's disappearance.
Interpol is co-ordinating ongoing contacts between police in Portugal, the UK and Morocco. This is just one of several aspects in which British police have been involved.
From the early days, two officers from Leicestershire were in Praia da Luz and Portimao, and others have since joined them. Numbers have fluctuated but there are currently five British specialists based in Portugal, while the Portuguese have one in Leicestershire.
Back in Britain, police said today that they had received 330 photos and 755 phone calls from the public in response to Monday's appeal for people who had been in Praia da Luz in the two weeks before Madeleine's disappearance to send any snaps that portrayed any individuals they thought looked "out of place" or suspicious.
While the Portuguese retain control of the investigation , this is just one of several signs of British police playing an active role amid reports of frustration on the part of the McCann family that the investigation is taking so long. A spokesman for Kate and Gerry McCann confirmed that "at times it can be frustrating" for them, "especially when their questions take time to be answered", although he stressed that the McCanns were aware of the legal restrictions.
"The only thing that will make them happy is Madeleine's safe return," he added.
On Thursday, the McCanns released some poignant holiday snaps of their own, including the last photograph taken of Madeleine before her disappearance in which she sits beside her sister Amelie and her father as she smiles and dangles her feet in a pool.
The same day, when the McCanns were again visited by Britain's ambassador to Portugal, John Buck, a Portuguese detective was sent in to brief them on the investigation as far as was possible, according to a police spokesman. As for criticisms by the British press of local detectives' work, Portuguese police maintain these have been caused largely by a lack of information about or misunderstanding of local procedures and legal restrictions.
"That's not going to affect our work," said Chief Inspector Olegario de Sousa.
"It's natural for our officers to feel hurt by these criticisms, but it has just made us more determined. We shall work, remain calm and keep a cool head."
Local police are, however, clearly relieved that journalists are trickling away from the scene, leaving them to focus on their work out of the media spotlight, as they are accustomed.
Murat Pleads With Portuguese Police Updated: 09:01, Saturday October 13, 2007
The first person to be named an official suspect over Madeleine McCann's disappearance has broken his silence. Robert Murat remains an 'aguido'
Robert Murat, an "arguido" for five months, has pleaded with Portuguese police to finally clear him of suspicion.
But his brief admission in a television interview may land the British expat in trouble with the authorities.
Police restrictions on the 33-year-old include a ban on interviews with the media.
Mr Murat, who lives with his mother Jenny Murat less than 100 metres from the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz where Madeleine went missing, spoke only briefly.
"It's five months, my savings have gone. Mum is doing what she can. It is just very, very difficult," he told the BBC.
The property consultant gave the interview with family members by his side, in a direct plea to the Portuguese Police to finally clear his name.
Mr Murat's cousin, Sally Eveleigh, who runs a local guesthouse, said normal life has been impossible since being taken in for questioning by police 11 days after Madeleine disappeared on May 3.
She urged Portuguese police to finally remove Mr Murat's formal status.
"Five months down the line, he hasn't heard from the police for three months, and there's no evidence against him," she said.
"He hasn't seen his daughter for over five months. He has no finances now, all his savings are gone and he needs to rebuild his life."
After his first night of questioning at the local headquarters of the Policia Judiciaria (PJ) in the town of Portimao Mr Murat was declared an arguido.
Although police took him in for further questioning later and carried out new searches over the summer, he has never been formally arrested or charged.
Madeleine's parents, Gerry and Kate, were themselves declared arguidos last month after tests on DNA samples found in their hire car were taken as suggesting Madeleine's body had been transported in the vehicle.
Like Mr Murat, they strenuously deny any involvement.

Revealed: The nanny who could help clear the McCanns' name
Last updated at 22:46pm on 13th October 2007
The nanny: Catriona Baker poses in her Mark Warner T-shirt
She was interviewed for just three hours by police on the morning after Madeleine's disappearance. This compares with the four-and-a-half hours endured by Charlotte Pennington, another nanny at the resort who was witness to Kate's 'hysterical' reaction to Madeleine's disappearance.
The Mail on Sunday has also learned that within 24 hours of that interview Ms Baker was dispatched by Mark Warner to take up a new position in the Greek resort of San Agostino along with four other members of staff.
They were all linked to the seven holidaymakers who had eaten in the resort's tapas restaurant with Kate and Gerry McCann on the night of Madeleine's disappearance.
It is believed Ms Baker has since been reinterviewed by both British and Portuguese police but she has been told not to comment on the investigation.
The young nanny, described as 'fun and vivacious', has been deeply affected by Madeleine's disappearance, telling friends of nights without sleep and a complete loss of appetite.
Writing to one concerned friend nine days after Madeleine disappeared, she admitted: 'I was her nanny, so it's been tough for me, you wouldn't recognise me.
'It's hit me so hard I've hardly slept or eaten. My mum came to see me, but transferring me to "San Ag" has put me back at stage one as I am so stressed again.
'Love you loads, thanks for writing. I'm sorry I haven't been in touch, I have not been out of the house much.'
To another she added: 'Thanks so much for your support ... I am trying to cope, but not really liking "San Ag"... I don't plan on staying here. If they don't send me back to Portugal. I'll go home.'
She had been introduced to Gerry and Kate McCann on the first evening of their holiday at the Ocean Club resort as Madeleine's designated nanny and had developed a 'good relationship with the couple and especially with Madeleine', according to a friend.
On the day Madeleine disappeared Ms Baker had spent nearly six hours with the toddler, along with five other children aged between three and five. Two of those are believed to have been the children of the McCanns' friends, David and Fiona Payne.
Madeleine and her two-year-old twin siblings, Sean and Amelie, were placed in the resort's Kids Club, where Ms Baker worked, at around 10am while their parents took a stroll before collecting them at 12.30pm for lunch back at the apartment.
In the afternoon, the McCanns played tennis while Madeleine went back to her nanny at the children's club, who gave her tea at 5.30pm. Madeleine, Sean and Amelie were picked up by their parents at 6pm.
Ms Baker was not with the McCanns when the alarm was sounded over Madeleine's disappearance just before 10pm. However, she joined the search shortly after 11pm after completing her duties as a night babysitter.
Mark Warner did not return Ms Baker to Portugal from Greece and she has since left the company. She is now a live-in nanny looking after three children. Her location is being withheld on the request of the McCanns.
Ms Baker refused to comment about the investigation into Madeleine's disappearance, adding: 'I don't want to go through it again.'

Is Madeleine Mccann Abducted To Belgium?
It seems likely that whoever abducted Madeleine McCann would have removed her from Portugal. The most likely destination for her to be taken would be where the best price would be paid for an abducted child, and that, within Europe, would suggest Belgium , where child abuse is big business.
Also there has been a good potential sighting of Madeleine there. Click the link 'Belgium' to read the details. And click on the picture to expand.
The problem is that however bad the Portuguese Police are, the Belgian Police are even less willing to tackle paedophile child abductors.
Anyone who doubts the seriousness of losing an abducted child into Belgium should look around Brussels at the extraordinary numbers of missing children notices, at many tram stops and stations across the City.
Welcome to the paedophile capital of the EU , where children disappear, and the government does nothing.
EXTRACT FROM REPORT
These events produced great agitation among the Belgium populace. Many concluded that the police could not be so stupid as to miss so many opportunities to detect Dutroux' activities and arrest him. They concluded that a massive protection operation had been in place to protect politicians, officials in high places, and the child sexual abuse ring. They also believed that the government, police and courts were currently involved in a hush-up. Many public demonstrations were held.
PORTUGUESE POLICE LATEST
The Portuguese Police , instead of doing their job properly, are determined to bury the McCann case by playing politics and accusing the McCanns. As I've written in post below 'Portuguese Paedophiles Operate Unchecked By Police', their record on preventing paedophile abduction is about the same as Belgium's.
(any Brits reading this should be wondering if we really want to sign the EU Constitution and be subject to European criminal law, which allows prosecutions to take place without the need to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt. It is up to the accused to prove their innocence, which is not assumed. Prosecutors need only show guilt on a balance of probabilities. As Police are well known for their skills manufacturing false evidence, what chance does anyone have without even a jury? The McCanns are forced to fight politically to establish their innocence. The criminal justice system in the EU is misnamed. It should be called the Criminally Unjust System - or maybe The Paedophiles' Charter. The relationship between European Police and organised criminals described in the above links, is highly suspect)
LATEST ON PORTUGUESE POLICE SHAMBLES -
The official Portuguese police spokesman in the Madeleine McCann case, who resigned last weekend, has told friends he was 'unhappy' and 'exasperated' by leaks to Portuguese media by junior officers involved in the case. He also told a former colleague he was "always worried the evidence against the McCanns was weak". Chief Inspector Olegario Sousa said that the leaks were intended to push Kate and Gerry McCann into confessing they had killed their daughter. (Sunday Telegraph - 21.9.07)
October 1st - There is an attempted news 'deflection' created every few days to try to stop people from making the deduction that the Portuguese Police were told from high up to mess up the investigation, and cover up. As to how high up the chain the cover-up might go, see this

EU Commission President Barroso Assisted Portuguese Paedophiles
Barroso_jose
JOSE BARROSO, PRESIDENT OF THE EU COMMISSION
In this article from The Independent in 2003, the true story of how far paedophilia is controlled from inside Portugal's powerful elite is told. If those who govern the country are paedophiles out of control, that explains why the Police are doing nothing to help the Mccanns find Madeleiene, and why charges are being brought to silence the McCanns and try to make them go away.
The current head of the EU Commission, EU President Barroso was the Portuguese PM at the time and it was he that ordered an enquiry into the paedophilia that had come to light amongst Portugal's elite. However Portuguese child abuse experts say that he must have known all about the paedophilia going on before as they had told him often enough.....
From a report 'After the paedophile allegations were first published, Prime Minister Jose Manuel Durao Barroso ordered an investigation. Jorge Sampaio, the President and a Socialist Party leader, proclaimed, “The impunity which for decades on end has made this case a shame for us all will finally end ... Faced with the horror that so many children, who were entrusted to us to be educated and cared for, were victimised it is necessary to declare here that the guilty will be severely punished.”
He implored Portuguese citizens to trust the justice system saying, “We have to hope that our institutions work.”
However, a spokeswoman from Portugal’s Innocence in Danger charity said the organisation had been warning about child abuse for years in Portugal but there had been a virtual “media blackout”.
“It is no good President Sampaio and Parliament sounding off about the problem now and appearing to be knights in shining armour,” the spokeswoman continued. “They, like the police, must have known about the widespread abuse of children in Portuguese institutions for years. They have been warned often enough by charities such as ours but for reasons best known to themselves have remained silent.'
Gordon Brown Goes Quiet
I imagine that the British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who offered to help the McCanns, must know that the Head of The EU Commission must be involved in covering up paedophilia. He seems not to be saying anything now the McCanns really need his help, and the Portuguese Paedophiles are really showing their strength - even able to muscle the Police into bringing nuts charges against the McCanns.
Is Brown now too joining the conspiracy of silence in EU governments about how far into government paedophilia goes, and how criminal gangs make millions from the trade in abducted children - many abducted to order by clients who have already seen their photographs?
News organisations also must know what is going on. They too seem not to have the courage to report what they must know to be the truth.
Europe's paeophiles know they are safe, with even the President of The EU Commission acting to help them in the past. With paedophile sympathisers at the very top of the EU, what chance do the McCanns have? No wonder Gordon Brown has now gone silent.
Meanwhile kids carry on getting abducted, few seen again. As for Madeleine and thousands like here, Barroso knows the truth, but does nothing.

Police crackdown on Portuguese paedophile suspects
13/10/2007
Three hundred detectives from the Polcia Judiciria (PJ) this week conducted nationwide searches on an unprecedented scale in 75 homes and offices, as part of an international crack-down on paedophilia, initiated on Monday by Interpol.
Code-named Operation Predator, and with the assistance of 300 PJ detectives, individuals with images of child pornography on their computers were swooped upon.
The operation was conducted with European cooperation.
Portuguese investigators and their European counterparts swapped information, though it planned essentially by Portugals PJ.
Investigations are said to have been going on for the past six months.
All 80 individuals have been identified, though none, as yet, have been made official suspects. Whether or not this happens will depend on results from inspections to be carried out in the next few days on 150 computers that are now in police possession, 69 taken from domestic residences, six taken from offices.
To be made a suspect, the individuals must be found to have a shared files programme, likened to those of Emule and BBS, on their machines, through which child pornography is broadcast and watched, as well as having pornographic images of children.
According to police sources, the majority of those identified during the sweep are male and over 25 years of age.
Despite targeting all of continental Portugal, Madeira and the Azores, Operation Predator particularly concentrated on the greater Lisbon area.
Operation Predator followed with hours of Interpol making a public worldwide request for assistance in identifying a man photographed sexually abusing children in a series of images posted on the Internet, the first time the organisation has made such an appeal.
Although the original photographs had been digitally altered by him or his accomplices to disguise his face, specialists from the Bundeskriminalamt (BKA) in Germany working with Interpols Trafficking in Human Beings unit have been able to produce an identifiable picture.
Despite extensive global efforts to identify and locate this individual through Interpols network of 186 National Central Bureaus and specialist units, the mans identity and nationality still remain unknown.
For years images of this man sexually abusing children have been circulating on the Internet. We have tried all other means to identify and to bring him to justice, but we are now convinced that without the publics help this sexual predator could continue to rape and sexually abuse young children whose ages appear to range from six to early teens, said INTERPOL Secretary General Ronald K. Noble.
We have very good reason to believe that he travels the world in order to sexually abuse and exploit vulnerable children and as an 186-member country police organization, INTERPOL is uniquely positioned to co-ordinate this global effort to identify and bring him to justice, Added Mr Noble.
The search for the individual has been codenamed Vico after analysis of the photographs, around 200 in total featuring 12 different young boys, established that the pictures were taken in Vietnam and Cambodia.
The decision to make public this mans picture was not one which was taken lightly, but after thoughtful consideration and with the full agreement of experts from Interpols member countries dedicated to fighting this appalling criminal activity, said Kristin Kvigne, Assistant Director of Interpols Trafficking in Human Beings Unit.

"she is alive in the basement, must stop death"
Hi Brian, I am amazed at how Kate McCann is now being seen as a "bad mother" because she complained in her diary about her husband not being of great help at home and her children being "hysterical". As a mother of 2 little kids, I found myself a thousand times complaining about the same things (although my husband is a helping angel), and I would not believe a mother or father saying they never felt the same with their kids (would you as a father of 3?). At any point a statement like that can prove or be even close to prove that somebody overdosed their own children with sedatives. Greetings from Mexico City! C.

Hi C...I do not see any problem with Kate's statement, as it's completely normal.
I think the sedative claim relates to other issues.
And you are correct :)

I'm very concerned about the current search being performed by the PJ.
It's seems they are focusing completely on looking for a body and not a live child...if this information is correct, they are more than certain that the McCann's know what happened to her.
I ask anyone in the area to please keep an eye on what they are doing, especially anyone coming in to and out of Murat's house.
I have no reason to believe that Madeline is dead, and if she is alive and in the area, now is a very good time to watch everything going on.
A video camera or camera phone would be something very useful as well.
I believe that some members of the the PJ are so desperate to frame the McCann's, rather than expose what's really going on, they make take any action necessary to do so.
I will be there as soon as my passport arrives...if I do not have it by the end of the day (it's 2AM here), I will tomorrow call and find out what's taking so long.

MADELEINE: KIDNAP LINK TO RUSSIAN MAFIA GANG
By David Pilditch in Praia da Luz and Tom Whitehead in London MADELEINE McCann may have been kidnapped by an international paedophile network linked to Russia and lawless former Soviet states.
These countries are at the centre of a vile industry that makes millions of pounds from horrific films and pictures of children being sexually abused.
A leading expert on paedophile crime told the Daily Express yesterday: “They especially target blonde children and there are strong grounds to believe that Madeleine might well be a victim.
“These people are totally unscrupulous and the countries where they operate are beyond the reach of police or the law.
“There are huge profits being made from child pornography. I have had to watch some of the films in the course of my work and they are disgusting beyond belief.”
Contacts in major Western countries, including the US, Britain and Germany, use Russian mafia gangs to obtain photographs and films that cannot be made elsewhere.
The revelation comes after detectives smashed Portugal’s biggest child-sex ring but failed to establish any connection with Madeleine.
Paulo Rebelo, the new head of the inquiry, has ordered his hand-picked team of detectives to target online child sex rings.
Investigators are now probing a sighting of a blonde-haired woman seen acting suspiciously outside the holiday apartment from where Madeleine disappeared on May 3.
A British woman who owns a local restaurant told police she spotted the suspect – dressed in a light-coloured trench coat – peering into the window of Madeleine’s bedroom shortly before 10pm that night.
The witness was driving her car past the Ocean Club complex in Praia da Luz when she saw the woman – who turned away after being caught in her headlights.
The restaurant owner gave a detailed statement to Portuguese detectives. It is understood the sighting was dismissed by investigators who were convinced Madeleine had not been abducted and had died inside the apartment.
But police are set to look into it again as the investigation gains new intensity. Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry, insist their daughter was snatched from her bed as they dined nearby with friends.
They believe Madeleine’s abductors may have been watching the apartment for up to six days.
Mr Rebelo has re-opened the line of inquiry that Madeleine could have been taken by a sexual predator. One theory being investigated is that the four-year-old was snatched by a couple – as a woman would provide perfect cover for the crime.
In the days after the youngster vanished a series of sightings were reported of a girl who matched Madeleine’s description with a man and a blonde-haired woman.
Detectives are expected to now investigate whether the pair may have been working for a Russian-based network which set out to snatch a little blonde child to order.
The Algarve has a growing Russian community largely made up of migrant workers – many of them in the country illegally – who flood the region to work in bars and hotels.
Detectives have interviewed Russian ex-pats and asked if they were aware of a “suspicious couple” in the area at the time Madeleine disappeared.
It is thought the network is operating in Portugal because of its lax sex offence laws. Portugal is one of only two countries in Europe without a sex offenders’ register.
Detectives searching for Madeleine have been in contact with Russian counterparts who have supplied a list of known sex offenders who live in the Algarve or travel to the region.
Russian police have also been asked to scan through tens of thousands of images looking for Madeleine.
The British-based Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre, which is spearheading the fight against global internet paedophile rings, has also been liaising with Portuguese police.
In the days after Madeleine disappeared two experts from the organisation arrived in Praia da Luz to help the investigation.
Child trafficking has become a massive business in lawless former Soviet bloc countries such as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
A source said: “Madeleine is a pretty blonde child who unfortunately fits the profile of these evil perverts. The idea that Madeleine has been snatched by one of these gangs is entirely plausible.”
After Madeleine disappeared, Russian computer expert Sergey Malinka, 22, was questioned by detectives and his laptops and hard drives were seized.
He was quizzed as a witness after he was found to be linked to Robert Murat – the British ex-pat who was the first formal suspect.
Malinka was never accused of any wrongdoing and Murat, 33, looks set to be officially cleared by detectives.
If Sergey and Murat were involved in this Russian Mob connection, more that likely some of the PJ were either aware of this, or were making profits from it.
If they are able to make so many arrests so quickly, it's obvious that they knew it was going on, but may not have wanted make any arrests until now.
Murat and Sergey were not arrested...and seem to be not at all involved...which I highly doubt.
If the PJ has arrested all these people connected with buying and selling underage pornographic material, it would be very easy to trace others involved.
Again, I believe the PJ are protecting Robert Murat, and if any of this material can be traced to the UK, then it becomes officially a UK matter tool.
I would highly suggest that UK authorities demand to see all the evidence in the recent arrests and raids of suspected porn dealers.
This is something that needs to be looked at with outside eyes...so does a area search of all structures, lived in or not.

Hi, Brian
Here is another piece of information. This is like a surreal puzzle where the pieces just keep on changing, and one can never put it together!
It is infuriating that the police are digging and trawling rather than knocking on every door and looking in every basement!!
What happened with Malinka, I wonder. (Mr. Raspberry - that's what his name means in Russian). Erasing the hard drive is such a blatant admission of having done something illegal. And can't the data be restored, anyway? How can he be "off the hook"?
The sense of urgency to find this little girl is overwhelming.
Take care,
Natasha
reply
Thanks Natasha, Jane just send me a copy of the news report.
If any (corrupt) member of the PJ that's involved in this matter, the only way for the truth to come out is a confession...and that's what I'm hoping and working for.
From what I know erasing a hard drive can be recovered but it depends for what type of format was used (full/quick) and then how long it was used after this.
Some programs can wipe a hard drive completely using many passes of zeros and ones...this can take a very long time.

MADELEINE McCann may have been kidnapped by an international paedophile network linked to Russia and lawless former Soviet states.

Hi Brian,
Spent the last few days away from your site and reading around the story.( trying to find the elusive 272 connection)
There are no confirmed reports anywhere that the PJ have really started digging. This seems to be wild speculation based on the PJs revisiting the sites with the new team.
I didnt find any concrete proof they are digging.
I came across another child abduction/killing in Vilamoura in 05 of an English teenage girl where the step father was framed and convicted without evidence. It seems there is a pattern in these issues. The real killer was never found.
I have been reading up on peadophile networks and it would still suggest that probably a maid/ nanny/hotel worker was the girlfriend of the procurer as it is often the case - girlfriends are used to find targets ( and they are most often being abused themselves)
Also Brian one more point - having looked back at your previous solved cases usually your initials are 100% accurate. In this case the first initials given were RS and WS. I have searched the telephone directories for any RS/WS with an address or number 272 but without any luck.
Please can you advise why the change to RM?? are the original initials no longer relevent should we disregard them as they have not been mentioned since your original post???

Hi Tracy, RM has come up too many times for me to ignore it, and I'm certain this means Robert Murat.
I have look at the first DD many times, and have posed some ideas on what the initials might mean.
I believe the first DD is most likely the most accurate, and is one of the reasons I believe she was abducted and still alive.
As far as the digging, do you mean media reports of digging?
Brian
reply
Hi Brian.
yes I mean digging in the ground at the Church and out in the Woods as reported in the UK media. Back to RS and WS - if you still think they are relevent I' ll continue searching.
Any chance you have persuaded Rober Murat to let you take a look at his basement when you get there ?

Brian - They are looking for her body: A reservoir is being scoured by specialist police divers as the hunt for Madeleine McCann intensifies. Detectives are said to be preparing to search a 10-mile area around Praia da Luz, where the child vanished on May 3.
The hunt is also focusing on the Barragem da Bravura reservoir, which is around 15 miles away from the Algarve resort.
Paulo Rebelo, the man who is now heading the investigation, has ordered his officers to search the 2.5 mile-wide reservoir.
His investigators are also set to comb a three-mile stretch of coastline and beaches near Praia da Luz.
A spokesman for Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry McCann said: "Any widening of the search area is encouraging and we welcome it."
The previous investigation team was criticised for not searching properly for Madeleine, who went missing shortly before her fourth birthday.
Mr Rebelo has assembled a team of specialist detectives to boost the investigation, including two murder experts.
Portuguese newspaper Diario De Noticias claimed the search areas were related to mobile phone calls made by Madeleine's parents and their friends.
What do you think about the new people fronting the search for Madeleine? Do you think they are involved in the cover-up? Good Luck in Portugal Brian. Please find her. Em -X-

Hi, not sure, but I do not think most of them are...they are just doing what they are told...and thanks.

Hi Brian,
Please see the link below to the latest insights from psychic and tarot reader Matthew James relating to the searches being under taken at the moment.
In particular he mentions a tarpaulin being recovered from the water and that is has nothing to do with Maddy.

Hi Brian
I am drawn to the photo’s on the web of Sergey Malinka’s computer shop, particularly the small square glass windows at pavement level. Is there a basement below the shop? In several of your DD’s you have drawn 4 vertical lines which I thought were pillars or bars, but may in fact be the signage in this shop window. I can’t find the business name, address or telephone number of this shop or any company logo’s to cross-reference with your DD’s. Perhaps another of your readers can help me? Please feel free to pass on my email address to anyone who may be able to give me this (via you), and I will happily go through all of your DD’s.
Hope all your family are well and fingers crossed your passport arrives very soon.

Brian don't you think that saying Maddy is alive is just spreading false hope?
P
reply
Hi, this is a missing person case...not a dead person case.
Hope is very important, and there is nothing false about it, until she is found, it will stay a missing person case to me.
The parents did not kill their daughter, they maybe hiding something, but they did not kill their daughter.
So, if they did not kill their daughter, there will not be a body found anywhere near the apartment Madeleine went missing.
Why would an abductor take her, kill her and then dispose of the body in town...no way...this is organized crime, and the organization does not work that way.
Madeline is worth money to them...plane and simple...so either she's alive and in the area...or she is very far away from Praia da Luz, and more than likely still alive.
I think she is in town, more specifically, at Robert Murat's moms house....and the McCann's initial call to SKY News may have been why she's still there.
More than likely she was only going to stay at Murat's home, in the secret compartment, for a few hours after she was taken.
I believe this is SOP for the 'crime family' in the area, and wouldn't be surprised that DNA from dozens of missing people are in that secret room too.
But, when Mr. Murat went back to the McCann's apartment that night, he decided the area was too hot to move her out.
How did he know this? He works with the PJ and some of the PJ are a part of this 'crime family'.
That's also most likely when he called Sergey, his computer professional friend, to tell him of the delay.
Since the area never did cool off, she is more than likely is still there...alive...I do not think Robert or anyone involved in this organization could kill a helpless child.
So if the parents had nothing to do with Madeleine disappearance, there will not be a body found anywhere near Praia da Luz.
If the parents did kill or accidentally kill Madeleine that night...then she will be found...but then my first dream would be completely wrong.
Remember, if everything in this case is secret, and people face going to prison for just talking to a reporter...who's being allowed to talk??
Whoever the organization tells too...sound crazy? Maybe in the UK...but Portugal is not the UK.
Brian
PS...There is an easy way to tell who is in this 'crime family', just ask the locals who they fear...or even better, who they totally admire...it works...and I'm not scared to ask questions...in Portuguese, English or Spanish.
I can hear it now...so why wasn't Madeleine found when Murat's mom's home was searched by the UK authorities...I don't know...but if they people in charge of the case don't want something or someone to be found...anything's possible. How does a Magician work? The trick is usually right in front of you...yet distractions keep you from seeing it...the media is their 'pretty volunteer' and they don't even know it.

Still no Madeleine. Sad.

Maddie 'abducted alive'
By ONLINE REPORTER
Published: 14 Oct 2007
NEW evidence proves that Maddie was abducted alive and Kate McCann immediately knew she had been taken, it has been reported today.
Police were told that Kate knew straight away that her daughter had been snatched because the bedclothes were still raised above the mattress as if they were still lying over the four-year-old, the News of the World reports.
Supporters of the McCanns say this meant that she must have been carefully removed from the bed while asleep and taken, rather than just getting up and wandering off, which would have ruffled the bedclothes.
The paper suggests that those close to Kate and Gerry now hope that the evidence will clear the couple and focus the investigation back on the hunt for Maddie.
A Portugese police source told the paper: “People keep asking how did Kate know so quickly that Madeleine had been taken and not just walked out.
“But it’s obvious. When she put Maddie to bed the child was all tucked up around the shoulders, and when Kate realised she was gone all the sheets were still neatly in place.
“A child of that age wouldn’t have been able to get out of bed without moving a thing. Someone had clearly been in and carefully lifted her out. Kate realised that right away.
“This evidence must now refocus the police attention. Kate and Gerry should be released from their suspect status.”

From CLODAGH HARTLEY in Praia da Luz and KATHRYN LISTER in Rothley, Leics
Published: Today
THE parents of missing Maddie McCann were left “emotionally torn” yesterday after a huge police swoop on paedophiles drew a complete blank.
Kate and Gerry McCann have learned that no new leads emerged from cops trawling thousands of vile images on 150 computers seized from perverts in Portugal.
A close friend said: “They’re torn between huge relief that she has not been found to be in the clutches of a paedophile ring and dismay that the investigation appears to have hit yet another brick wall.
“They continue to hope and pray that Madeleine will be found alive and well.”
Raids were carried out at 80 properties in Operation Predator last Tuesday.
Officers spent six days analysing files for images of the missing four-year-old and found that the perverts sharing child-abuse files had distorted the images.
Computer experts used a special “image treatment” programme to redefine the victims’ faces – and they uncovered pictures of dozens of small blonde girls around Maddie’s age.
But a high-ranking source yesterday told daily newspaper Correio de Manha: “None was Madeleine.”
Portugal’s No 2 policeman Paulo Rebelo, who is now heading the Madeleine inquiry, had been hoping for fresh evidence to emerge from the raids.
And the McCanns, both 39-year-old doctors, from Rothley, Leics, were said to have been encouraged that a potential kidnapper of Maddie could have been unmasked.

comment on story above:
I realize that Madeleine is important, but I would like to see follow up reports on all the people they have arrested and what they are doing for the 'dozens' if not hundreds of children in these photographs.
Please tell me secrecy laws keep the Portuguese public from knowing who these 'perverts' are...especially when they could be the person next door.
I still have not received an answer why the country does not have child predator tracking database? If anyone can explain this, please let me know.

Hi Brian
Following the very recent post on your site re the psychic Isabel Avila from Chile “ Sunday Mirror newspaper: Oct.13th
In an increasing sign of desperation, Portuguese police were last night studying a map sketched by Chilean mystic Isabel Avila of an area where she claims Madeleine can be found. It suggests she is near a bridge and tall antennas “
Remember your DD5444 below where you had written RR station 21 or was it 22? But you wrote also the number 21611111531.
At the time we thought it referred to the local radio station, but I’m sure I’ve seen somewhere that this is a frequency number for Lagos or Luz boat radio reception.
You say 15miles outside of city limits. Looking at your writing, does that say NICO or NKO
Also, remember this from 20th May, page 1 of your site – it was 1 of 4 drawings done by someone sending in their own very detailed Remote Viewing on Madeleine’s situation & that person describes & draws a tall striped structure, that could be a radio mast:
…” I believe she is being held by a man and a woman, the woman has dark long hair which is tied up, middle aged 50ish. I also feel she is very close by and is in a villa on a hilltop, the hill goes up then undulates down then back upwards again..and she is in a villa on the first part of the hill. The villa is on a strong diagonal road, meaning it slopes strongly upwards to the right of the villa. On the hill which is in 'line of site' with the villa is somekind of tall striped structure (or appears to be striped). I feel this may be a telephone mast. It is the nearest Landmark “…
There must be something in this for 3 persons to mention it.
Worth looking into I think?

HI Brian
I cant seem to get any emails through to you for some days now. It must be hard for you wading through so many. Hope everything is ok with you/family & baby Allison doing well.
Re the latest news on the Russian connection & going back to Sergey Malinka, I had sent you a msg with a lot of text way way back in July with many crime scene photos not posted on your site -- but anyway this was 1 of the photos I’d sent showing where Sergey lived & that the Cave Bar is below, in a basement, and, the address is 2 rúa Primeiro MAIO!
Cut some of my original text from that email from July:
…“ The 1st photo below, re Sergey Malinka’s place. I didn’t realise that he lived so close to the crime scene. The building is as it states on the photo below, yards from the local church and above the popular expat Cave Bar.
Remember that someone sent you a photo of Sergey Malinka’s balcony, that had a white plastic box on it. I wonder if that ever got checked? Maybe it was just a regular trash bin (crazy to be white for such dirty use) or perhaps it was a dirty clothes washing bin, or a special bin for throwing his computer junk into. Or maybe it was an animal carrier box, as in your drawings.
Sergey Malinka (Russian computer expert)
“ RUSSIAN Sergey Malinka told ‘The Sun’ yesterday how he set up a website for Madeleine McCann’s suspect Robert Murat. Speaking just before being arrested Malinka, 22, said he also worked on a computer owned by the one-eyed Briton and had met him several times. He added: “I did do some work for Robert and found him a really cool guy. “He wanted a website created and I did a lot of work getting it together for him.” Before being quizzed as a suspect, he insisted to ‘The Sun’: “I’m not the man — it’s definitely not me”. Asked if he had any criminal convictions, Moscow-born Malinka said: “Not as far as I know. I have just had all my residency papers approved and checks are always made for criminal convictions.” Minutes after the interview, detectives took him into custody. It was later reported on Portuguese national TV that he had convictions for sex offences. Detectives are believed to have been in contact with the Russian branch of Interpol. Police were searching his parents’ home in a five-storey block of flats in Praia da Luz and another property in nearby La Goa. Malinka had lived with his parents but is thought to have moved to a flat above his computer shop. As the search began Malinka’s father, aged around 50, watched from the car park but refused to comment.”
Going by your recent drawing of which looks like someones cellar or garage, with a mattress, bucket etc in it, I believe that not only Robert Murat’s hidden cellar & garage should be re-searched, but Sergey Malinka’s cellars & garages re-searched too, as well as the Cave Bar cellar & garage, if any, that is underneath his place and Sergey Malinka’s other place at La Goa – one of his places is apparently above his computer shop I believe.
Also to be re-searched, are the cellar & garages of the Ocean Club Resort, Tapas restaurant, Estrela da Luz hotel & Michaela Walczuch/Luis Antonio’s place.
Apart from that, I also believe that the local police station cells should be searched, because the door that you have drawn with the bars on, looks more like a prison cell door to me! Not that I’ve seen one though. But that is how I imagine it to look like. If any cops are involved, they could hide Madeleine there. But who ever would get the authority to do a check!?
And, sorry to say this, as it may upset some people, but I believe the local church vaults should be searched too!! I read somewhere that Madeleine is right under the parents feet & they seem to be at the church a lot. Goodness knows what is underneath the church, which is right by the sea, where there could be underground tunnels, leading to caves near the beach. “…
“The Cave

Up the hill, on the left hand side coming from the town square. Rua 2 Mai (Rua Espiche)” Complete address is 2 rúa Primeiro MAIO ” Update: Currently up for For Sale but still trading as usual 09/2006 likewise 06/2007
See Google Map - switch to Hybrid – Zoom in on marker ‘N’ which is the Cave Bar below Sergey Malinka’s place on this link http://www.luzholiday.com/Portugal10.htm#Cave
Looking at Google Earth, ‘immediately’ NE of the Cave basement Bar you can see 5 or 6 courts, although they don’t look like the other hotel complex courts. Perhaps these are the 6 courts that you have been referring to a long time back? Enlarge below as you prefer to check it out.
Also your very recent posts mention again about a blonde woman seen hanging around the McCanns appt, but do you remember some time back on your site, it was mentioned before (in June I think & may have been me) & the description was the same, blonde, in her 50’s & a bit plump & fit the description very much of Sally Eveleigh-Vincent, Robert Murat’s auntie, married to Ralph Eveleigh, Jenny Murat’s mothers brother. Sally Eveleigh-Vincent supposedly works voluntarily for an adoption agency in the UK I believe.
Perhaps whoever it was that was seen, repeatedly heard a child (Madeleine) crying for her parents, every night so it was said. Now, this someone may have been very concerned & taken them out themselves. Perhaps this person was from a child protection agency?
Or, this person may have reported it to the police & the PJ may have taken her out. Remember the initials RS & WS, well you had said that Madeleine was with RS & WS, then much later on you had said that RS was the police. This was way before the UK police came to Portugal, so RS was 1 of the PJ. Would this RS who works for the police have Madeleine in 1 of the police cells, because the bars look like the bars on a cell door?
What do you think?
Kind regards

Hi Brian,
Just thinking how nobody seems to have found a link to this "272"..
Maybe that's when she will be found...272 days missing? She's now been missing 166 days...

Are there any connections or dreams referring to this date or the numbers 01-30-08 ??

Have you done an RV on this balled man in these pictures? You don´t seem to pay attention to this man, who obviously works for the police and was at the Ocean Club the day Madeleine disappeared. The Parents of Madeline McCann, Gerry McCann and Kate McCann have accepted that she is probably dead according to their spokesman. LONDON (AFP) - The parents of missing toddler Madeleine McCann have accepted that she is probably dead, their official spokesman admitted for the first time on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters, Clarence Mitchell said: "Kate and Gerry are realistic enough to know that there is a probability she is dead. "They have not given up hope that she is still alive and is being looked after somewhere. But human nature is that you always fear the worst and they need to know what has happened."

Just an update in the mis-quote earlier. Kate and Gerry do NOT accept she is probably dead, they just realise there is a possibility. Here is Gerry's latest entry in his web blog today.
Life in Rothley is definitely quietening down although daily photographs of us leaving the house still seem ‘newsworthy’ which I find incredible. We are slowly trying to return to normal and it is heartening meeting ordinary people who are very supportive and sympathetic. We have managed to catch up with quite a few friends in the last week, which we have actually had to build up to because of the emotions involved in talking about what has happened. We also had our first visitor from Praia da Luz who spent a few days with us. It was touching to hear about our friends there, who continue to hold weekly vigils praying for Madeleine and her safe return. The media frenzy is gradually subsiding with just occasional unsubstantiated reports of ‘evidence’ appearing. It is very encouraging that Mr Rebelo’s officers will be seemingly reviewing all the material in the inquiry, which will hopefully identify areas for further investigation. Contrary to some other reports Kate and I do NOT accept that Madeleine is ‘probably’ dead. We know it is a possibility, however the fact there is no evidence Madeleine has been seriously harmed gives us ongoing hope that she will be found alive. Finally, thank you once again to evryone who has written to us or sent messages of support. Calum has been away for a week on holiday and we will be updating the messages of support very soon. We would love to reply to everyone personally but the huge numbers simply make it impossible.

Hi, Brian Malinka lives above "The Cave Bar" 2 rúa de MAIO, Praia da Luz
Just look at your DD #5551 and the picture of the Cave Bar entrance!
You drew a fish on the door. The bar was decorated "to look like a fisherman's cave"!
This entrance is very distinct. I think that is what you drew!
See below about the "Mystery Man"'s identity. Natasha
Also, if people are still wondering who "the mystery" man in the playground photo is -it is not the same person as a PJ policeman.
It is David Marcellus Payne from San Diego! He is a convicted criminal, an identity thief, and an opportunist. What is such a (childless) man doing at an upscale foreign resort playground? Good question!
Below is a link to an article from over 3 yrs. ago from San Diego Union Tribune.
It says that he was sentenced to 4 yrs,. in jail for identity theft (back in 2004). I guess he got out early and high-tailed it to a thief paradise -an upscale resort.
It is always suspicious when a man without a child is hanging around a playground. It would be an extraordinary coincidence for a manipulative crook like that to
just happen to be there given the events that followed. According to the article below (this is only the first half) he is charming, cunning, manipulative, and loves
to live it up. WHY is he in this picture!!

An ex-roommate assists in revealing dual life of David Marcellus Payne
By Mark Arner STAFF WRITER
June 21, 2004
His victims recall him as charismatic and charming, handsome and sophisticated. Two were roommates. One dated him for nine months.
He had panache, they say, and a taste for the finer things in life. Tickets to the Old Globe. Golf at posh country clubs. Premium wines, stays in trendy hotels, jet trips to sporting events around the globe.
When it came to light that this rich lifestyle was built with stolen money – much of it stolen in their name – his friends saw another David Payne: the accomplished identity thief who penetrated their very lives and looted what he could.
They felt betrayed, even foolish. Mostly, they said they were stunned by Payne's heartlessness, his audacity, the coldblooded way he devastated those closest to him.
Like so many victims of identity theft – a crime that netted an estimated $52 billion last year from businesses and 10 million Americans – they wonder if their nightmares will ever end.
UPDATE: 12.22.2007 THIS IS THE WRONG DAVID PAYNE
Yet Payne's victims have this one comfort: Their tormentor is behind bars. Most identity thieves skate by because the crime is so difficult to track and police are overwhelmed by hundreds, even thousands of cases.
David Marcellus Payne, a 36-year-old San Diegan with a long criminal history, is serving a four-year term in Richard J. Donovan State Prison in Otay Mesa.
He pleaded guilty in March to making fraudulent purchases of more than $21,500 over six months – a spending spree footed by six individuals and 17 businesses. Some of his victims never saw him, never knew his name.
Authorities believe Payne's larceny runs deeper still. They are trying to link him to an additional $30,000 in fraudulent purchases since 2000.

Question...
If the first picture was taken weeks before it was made public, then the 2nd photo, taken by the journalist who located the family, would have to been taken almost a month later.
I would expect the pictures to look completely different, but they don't...it looks like the second photo was staged to look like the first picture...if so...why?
I see Madeleine in the first picture, but I also know I desperately want to see Madeline in the first picture, which could explain why I see this.
If I'm wrong on this, someone please let me know.

‘It is time to discard the myths and half-truths, Madeleine McCann was taken' The key to a missing three-year-old girl lies in the resort itself. The reality is very different to the tale in the media
David Canter
Five months after her disappearance, we are no further towards knowing exactly what happened to Madeleine McCann and we may never know the truth. However, after spending many days in Praia da Luz while making a Dispatches documentary about the case, I have come to the conclusion that the greatest likelihood is that she was abducted, and probably by a local person.
There are a number of indicators that have led me to this conclusion.
The days that I spent in Praia da Luz speaking to those who were there soon after that dreadful night in May, and with experienced police officers and a forensic scientist, have helped to clear away many of the myths and half-truths that have driven the accounts of Madeleine’s disappearance.
If you stand outside the apparently unremarkable apartment from which Madeleine vanished, the reality of unexpected horror hits home. The tidy walls and hedges that divide the apartments from the swimming pool, on the far side of which the family were eating tapas on May 3, take on a much more sinister form when you realise that they hide any clear view of the room in which the McCann children were sleeping.
An abductor who knew the complex would have had to be quick to remove the child from her apartment without being seen, but he could have done it. After passing through the alleyway that ran beside the apartment, he would then have found it simple to dash across the deserted road behind the resort and through a small car park to a network of alleyways sheltered by high walls.
These alleyways, decorated with lush bougainvillea, provide an ideal rat-run that would be well known to local criminals. Late in the evening it would have been a simple thing to pass through these alleyways to a safe house or a car parked near by.
Possible escape routes aside, one of the most convincing arguments I have heard for an abduction by a local came from my colleague at Liverpool University, Professor Kevin Browne, who advises many international agencies including the WHO and Unicef on child protection. He made clear that this quiet village could harbour a number of child abusers who had been released into the community rather than convicted.
The situation in Portugal was, he pointed out, very different from that in Britain today, being more the way it used to be here a decade or more ago.
Compared with other countries in Western Europe, Portugal convicts a much smaller proportion of child abusers. Children are more likely to be removed from their families, ending up in institutions while their abusers walk free. As a consequence, there are not only potentially more abusers within society unmarked and unmonitored, but a of whole new generation of people with an increased likelihood of becoming abusers because of their own experiences.
There are limited possibilities for what happened to Madeleine. I think of these along a continuum from those, at one end, in which she played a significant role, to the other extreme at which would lie an organised network of traffickers who come to Praia de Luz specifically to find a victim.
The family or close associates distance us from the possibilites involving the girl herself. Those who know the family but are not really known to the family themselves, such as service staff, lead us a step closer to the possibilities of a distant criminal network.
However, there is a crucial prospect of a person who had no direct contact with the family, observing them from afar, although not part of any criminal organisation.
Each possible explanation for the disappearance is driven by different assumptions.
1) If she had woken up in distress would she have sat and cried or wandered off into the town? If she had wandered off it would have been to try to find her parents – along a probably familiar route to where they were eating. It would have been a terrible coincidence if she had been abducted on such an unlikely journey.
2) The prospect of family or friends’ involvement beggars belief. For a start, if the child had been killed in some accident, possibly as a result of an overdose, then her medically trained parents would have had to be exceptionally incompetent, for which there is no evidence. Furthermore, the friends who were with them would all have had to be willing to risk their professional careers to keep such a appalling secret for such a long time.
3) Organized networks of people traffickers, sadly, have much more obvious opportunities for finding vulnerable children who would not be missed on the streets of many developing countries, or even in the orphanages, and sometimes the streets of Eastern Europe. Why risk being caught in a quite middle-class holiday resort?
4) Against this backdrop, it became clear to me that the police in the Al-garve simply do not have the resources to deal with crimes of this magnitude. Their expertise lies in dealing with the drug smuggling that occurs frequently between North Africa and here. But resources that the English police can bring to bear quickly are unlikely to be available to the Portuguese police in any serious inquiry.
Detective Chief Superintendent Chris Stevenson, who headed the Soham investigation into the murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in 2002, made clear in his contribution to the documentary that the British police would have followed the detailed procedure laid down in an inch-thick “murder manual” – a painstakingly systematic approach that can send the cost of the average murder inquiry to £1 million.
Without these resources, the Portuguese police have had to proceed very differently. They have to find ways of taking the short cuts that detectives in fact and fiction have always had to take in the past. This consists of forming a view of what the likely cause of the crime is and using that in the search for clues.
5) For me the most obvious possibility is the local offender quickly escaping down the rat-run of dark alleys. One witness is reported as seeing a man rushing away from the complex with a child wrapped in a blanket shortly after the last reported sighting of Madeleine.
6) The days spent discussing the disappearance of Madeleine in the actual location where the McCanns had been on holiday provided a rather different perspective from the one heralded in the British media. The little girl may just have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Comments on this article:
1) Agree, the odds of her just stumbling into a child abductor are extremely low...someone was watching her and her daily routine. Sadly, this routine left her alone and in danger for many nights before she was taken.
2) Agree, but if improper parenting practices were used, I would easily see some doctors ego's not wanting this information to get out. The inconsistencies in their initial statement they gave to the PJ are being used as fuel to point the blame outward, instead of inward. Organized crime works with the police...not all of them...but some of them. This is how they operate, they buy police officers and other persons in power to 'not notice' certain things. If the PJ really had hard evidence that the McCann's killed their daughter, they would have been arrested right away...not wait until outside authorities to arrive months later. They were hoping this entire event would blow over, and for the reporters to go home.
3) Partly agree...Madeline is worth money to them, sadly because of her looks and the demands of some very sick people. If certain members of the PJ are involved in traffic and exploiting children, then the risk is very low of getting caught.
If a person was very familiar with the surroundings, looked and spoke English, Spanish and Portuguese, knew the members of the PJ and the hotel staff very well, lived close by, was seen following the McCann's days before she was taken, had access to child pornography, had a Russian friend (professionally basis only) that knew how to quickly setup and disguise child pornography on the web, and this friend was a computer expert and apparently on call 24 hours a day for his customers...and this friend was from a place where child pornography is completely legal , had wild sex parties involving other men and woman (fits profile), could not prove his/her location at the time Madeleine disappeared, introduced himself to Gerry McCann days before Madeleine went missing (but strangely enough this meeting was not leaked to the local press), had a hidden secret compartment in the floor of their home, whose description was described by the McCann's friends as a person seen leaving McCann's apartment around the time Madeline went missing, was declared a suspect by the PJ but with no charges pending, protected by the PJ and the press...did leave the area or even try to defend himself for five months against very serious accusations (which is very unlikely for a normal person do to...especially an outsider...and I do not buy the secrecy law issue, if I were accused of such a crime, I would not be silent...I would be pissed...and would still be talking in my jail cell), had no negative or incriminating statements leaked to the local press by the PJ, yet the McCann's had literally hundreds (which proves that either he is completely innocent or the PJ is protecting him...I'm going with the protecting him conclusion), has close friends seen in pictures with Madeleine before she went missing (which is very odd) , and has a daughter Madeleine's age that 'looks just like her', but does not have legal custody...this man is RM (Robert Murat). I believe that Robert Murat still has Madeline, alive, and until he is officially no longer a suspect and no longer under protection from the PJ, I believe Madeline will still be in his home or very close. Again, it would be a good idea to keep watching and listening to whatever goes on is his house.
4) Disagree...if the PJ needed help, they had it since day one. 'Their expertise lies in dealing with the drug smuggling that occurs frequently between North Africa'... wonderful, they are experts in dealing drugs to North Africa...do you know what else is traded to North Africa? Do you know that child pornography is not illegal in certain parts of North Africa, and many of the pictures circulated in the world come from North Africa and Russia. Look at Praia da Luz on a world map...look how close it is to Africa...it's an ideal porn port. So do I think Madeline is in Africa? No...I believe by now a picture of her would have surfaced somewhere on the internet...I believe she could have been there if it weren't for the parents first call to Sky News.
5) Agree...This most likely was Robert Murat or one of his friends...using my dreams, possibly with the initials RS who might have a wife with the same last name. More than likely, they have been to one of Murat's sex parties.
6) Disagree...children are in danger all the time, and it's our job to protect them...and she should not have "been in the wrong place at the wrong time" ...it was preventable, and should be punishable upon Madeline's return...but not until then.
Brian
P.S.
If the people of the UK demanded that the investigation of the case be handed over to the UK authorities, as it seems to only involve UK citizens, I would imagine there is some legal loophole that allow this to happen. If it's already being done, then please disregard this suggestion.
Hey Brian I dont know how you are finding time to get anything done with so many emails but I am going to add another to your inbox! In 2 dreams (DD 5876 and cannot find other one now) you have a flag with the number 8. It really looks like a golf hole marker flag to me. This may be important in tracking down her location. Also, in a few of the dreams (again, had emailed you the dreams before but i am sure you were swamped at time and now I cannot find all DDs) but at least in 5895, you draw a symbol that happens to be similar to the logo for a golf resort in PDL area: http://www.greatgolfholidays.com/ In reviewing many of your missing person DDs I noticed a few things: 1) a random "6" is a good portent 2) You deal often in birthdates (hence getting Murats birthday in dream) 3) License plate numbers come up frequently. I am wondering if anyone knows the license plate number for any police officers, Father Pacheco, Murats cars, his girfriend or her husband? Some of your numbers that seem random may actually be part or all of a license plate number. Just a thought to get people working on deciphering things before you get to PDL Good luck! Maureen

Thanks Maureen, many of these numbers could be license plates but I'm not sure how to go about researching them

Hi Cy, someone sent it to me and I did comment on it.

I completely agree with you - the first picture is Madeleine. I cannot help but go back to that - it practically haunts me and I cannot believe it is not haunting the McCann's themselves. I cannot actually believe the response of everyone - "oh, too bad it wasn't her." What are the chances the two people are wearing "the same thing" weeks later? And the little girl's hair in each picture is clearly parted on opposite sides. The expression on her face in the first picture is Madeleine. The other girl to me clearly looks different. That time is the same time in Matthew's writings he writes that The Shining Star (aka Madeleine) has appeared. He too questionned the differences in the picture. I don't understand why it was dismissed rather than further questionned. Those are different children. I'm glad that you see it too!

Hi, I think many people thought it was her, and many still do think it was Madeleine.
So here are some of my theories...and I have to be quick..
- It was an photo of her, and she is safe wherever the picture was taken. The second picture was of a different child, and part of the cover-up. (most unlikely, but I hope to be true)
- It was a legit photo and the second photo just happened to be in the same conditions, location and the people looked just looked like they were, or we wearing the same clothes a month later. (most people believe this and could be true)
- Both photos were legit, but of two different people and children on their back. (not sure about that)
- It was a hoax...the first picture was a image of Madeleine superimposed on the woman's back using some very good graphics software (like a media outlet would have). A reader sent me a pic of Madeleine that might have been to used to do this as soon as the story was reported...I think I posted it on one of these pages. Then the same person that sent the original (doctored) photo via email to the authorities...where some experts looked it over and declared it to be genuine...just as the hoaxer wanted. Finally the same person(s) went back to where the first photo was taken to uncover the real truth and take some more pictures...supposedly. (would be worth checking out)
I do not have the time to investigate this further, nor have had any dreams about it...but if anyone wants too, please keep me updated. I would start with whoever took the second photo.
Brian
I made a promise to my family that I would stop working no latter than midnight...well it's midnight, and again I did not get a chance to post last nights dreams...will have them up tomorrow.
Good Night...Brian

Why are all my missing person cases public?
The reason for making all my missing person cases public is simple...there is no possible way I can investigate these myself. I add at least one new case a day, 7 days a week with no vacations...this leaves little free time to do individual case work. Making everything public far outweighs working in secrecy...what you get is what I dreamt, nothing more or nothing less. When I post my dream drawing on a case, I usually post a translation too...this translation includes everything I know about the case, nothing is kept from you the reader. As with most people, I do not remember a majority of my dreams, and going back to specific dd's (dream drawings) does not usually bring back anything additional I have not already posted. I am not a psychic and can only work via dreaming or lucid dreaming, so with each request, I literally have to 'sleep on it'. I am not concerned about my dreams not being right, however I am concerned about letting those who can make a difference in solving a case, do so. I have been doing this for several years now, and will continue to do it in a way I know works. I have never charged to open a case, and have no plans on doing so in the future...all work, including work from those helping me is done 100% pro bono. When corresponding about a specific case via email, please assume it will be made public...as always I will try my best to remove personal information of the sender...but mistakes do happen. To open a new case, check the status of a pending case or to send information on a current case, please email my case admin Debra at this link . For more information as to how I do what I do and how we handle cases, please listen to
